Pond Repair and Leak Assessment
If your backyard pond is losing water, you have three real options: repair it, rebuild it, or convert it into something you will use more. We help homeowners across Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, New Mexico and Kansas figure out which one makes sense before anyone spends money.
Start here if this sounds like you
Your pond drops more than the weather explains and you are topping it off every few days. You can see exposed or slumping liner, or the water line has settled below the rock edge. A waterfall or stream stops running when the pump is on for a while. The pump, skimmer or filter is original and you are not sure it is worth keeping. You inherited the pond with the house and nobody left instructions.
How a leak assessment works
First, tell us what you are seeing. Send photos and a short description through our contact form, or call. We will look at the photos and get back to you. Second, the on-site assessment. We come out, run the system, check the liner, plumbing, skimmer, waterfall box and edge, and find where the water is actually going. Most leaks are not where owners expect. Third, a straight answer. You get a written summary of what is wrong, whether a repair will hold, and roughly what repair versus rebuild would involve. If repair is the right call, we say so. If it is not, we explain why.
Repair, rebuild or convert?
Repair is best when the liner is sound and the problem is a plumbing joint, a settled edge, a failed skimmer seal or a worn pump. We fix what is broken and leave the rest alone. Rebuild is best when the liner has failed, the pond was built without proper underlayment or edge detail, or you have been chasing the same leak for years. A rebuild done right costs more once and stops the cycle. Convert is best when you want a pond you will actually swim in. An existing pond or chlorine pool can often become a natural swim pond.
What we will and will not do
We will tell you if a repair is not worth the money. We will tell you if your pond was built in a way that cannot be reliably fixed. We will not quote a repair we do not believe will hold, and we will not push a rebuild on a pond that just needs a new pump.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you repair ponds you did not build?
Yes. Most of the ponds we assess were built by someone else. We need to see the pond before we can say what it will take.
How do I know if my pond is leaking or just evaporating?
In Texas summer heat a pond can lose a quarter inch to half an inch a day to evaporation. If you are losing more than that, or losing water in cool weather, something else is going on. Turn the pump off for 24 hours and mark the water line. If the drop stops, the leak is in the plumbing or waterfall. If it keeps dropping, it is in the pond itself.
What does a leak assessment cost?
It depends on the size of the pond and how far we travel. Call or send photos through the contact form and we will tell you before we schedule anything.
Can you fix a pond that was built by a landscaper or pool company?
Often yes. Many of the ponds we see were built without proper underlayment, edge detail or filtration. Some can be corrected. Some are better rebuilt. We will tell you which.
Is it worth repairing an old pond or should I start over?
If the liner is sound and the equipment can be replaced, repair is usually the better value. If the liner has failed or the pond was built on the wrong footing, a rebuild stops the cycle of repeat repairs. We give you both numbers so you can decide.
Do you offer maintenance after a repair?
Yes. See our maintenance plans.
